Lead-lines, fathometers, and single-beams have provided the foundation for our description of the seafloor, but these labor-intensive methods are extremely limited in their spatial coverage. Years ago technologies such as multibeam and LIDAR revolutionized hydrographic data collection. Unfortunately, due to expensive platforms, inpenetrable depths, and the vastness of remote areas, much of the ocean remains unmapped.

What newer technologies are being developed and how will they effeciently, economically, and accurately map the remaining areas?

The Co-founder of ACUA Ocean, Neil Tinmouth, will discuss the use of technology as multi mission platforms and how this can enable new financial models for funding research.
Danny Neville, the Managing Director of Spatialnetics Solutions, will show how lightweight micoservices can address the challenges of automating hydrographic workflows.
Addressing the navigational issues of deep-sea mapping, Satish Ramachandran, the Chief Technology Officer of AROBOTNX, will talk about the use of spare long baseline arrays.
Lachlan Hurst, the Technical Delivery Manager of FrontierSI, focuses on the processing, management, and visualization of big data (lidar, aerial photography, and bathymetry).
